YUI Library Samples

On this page we make sample code available to you. Using it is entirely at your own risk. However, you may find it useful to gain an understanding of how to make CICS work with web browsers.

Sample 1: A simple COBOL CICS Web Application that uses YUI Library served by CICS JS/Server, to demonstrate how easy it is to produce an table of data in the web browser.

The YUI Library datatable is formatted for easy reading, can be sorted, resized and the rows change colour as they are sorted making for easy reading.

Summary

This program is initiated in CICS from a Web Browser. It loads the YUI Library from CICS JS/Server which must be configured in the target CICS region.

The program does little other than show the YUI Library 'DataTable' function.

Sample 2: This composite sample demonstrates the power and simplicity of using CICS JS/Server's content management feature.

The application builds a web page based on freeform text and HTML snippets created by three separate CICS COBOL programs. YUI Library is used to create a series of Tabbed data on the page.

Summary

This program is initiated in CICS from a Web Browser. It runs a program that puts application data into YUI Library Tabs. These programs are called in the order shown by the CICS JS/Server content server facility, building the web page as it progrersses through the freeform text and the HTML snippets created by the COBOL programs that have been called. The YUI Library resources are loaded from CICS JS/Server.
