Bespoke Content Samples

On this page we make sample code available to you. Using it is entirely at your own risk. However, you may find it useful to gain an understanding of how to make CICS work with web browsers.

Sample 1: This sample has been constructed using bespoke content (pictures, css files and the Open Source javascript library, JQuery Tools) served by CICS JS/Server. This demonstrates how easy it can be to create novel CICS web applications.

Summary

The application is initiated in CICS from a Web Browser. The content server aspect of CICS JS/Server constructs the web page using the components describing the application. It demonstrates the use of JQuery Tools to create a simple pictorial menu navigation system.

Sample 2: This sample demonstrates the power and simplicity of using CICS JS/Server's content management feature.

Summary

The application builds a web page based on freeform text and HTML snippets created by a CICS COBOL program (JQT0010H). JQuery Tools is used to create a series of pictures on the page. Moving the mouse pointer over the images causes the text in a highlighted area below them to change along with a pointer to the image to which the text refers.

Sample 3: This sample demonstrates the power and simplicity of using CICS JS/Server's content management feature.

Summary

The application builds a web page based on freeform text and HTML snippets created by a CICS COBOL program (JQT0030H). JQuery Tools is used to create a web registration form on the page. The user must enter valid information into the input fields before the form can be submitted. Inputting invalid data results in an error message when the submit button is clicked, prompting the user to correct the input. In addition, a hyperlink to a page that contains terms and conditions can be clicked, resulting in the opening of another tab showing a page of T's & C's built by CICS COBOL program TSANDCS. Finally, when all of the required input fields have been filled and the 'accept terms and conditions' box has been checked, the form can be submitted. At this point the form data is sent to CICS COBOL program JQT0020H which saves the data and returns another web page either indicating that registration has succeeded and that the user can continue to the application or that the Email address has already been registered in which case the user is offered the chance to try again.
